File Menu

The "File..." button displays the File Operations menu, which gives access to all of AutoMathic's file-related operations.  These operations let you save, reuse, and review your work in a number of ways.

Menu Item Operation
Save Transcript Save the contents of the output area to a named file
Save Algebra Save equations and/or variables to a named file
Load Algebra Reload a "save" file, or run a scripted calculation
View File View the contents of any user-accessible file
Manage Files Permanently delete any user-created file

Save Transcript

Save the entire contents of the output area to a named file.  (Entering a blank filename cancels the operation, and the transcript is automatically given the ".htm" file extension)

Use the Save Transcript option to preserve interesting or important AutoMathic sessions for later review.

Save Algebra

Save equations, variables, or both to a named file.  (Entering a blank filename cancels the operation, and the file is automatically given the ".eqn" file extension)

Use the Save Algebra option to preserve (and later reuse) interesting or useful equations and/or variable values to a file.

Load Algebra

Load a saved algebra file, or run a scripted calculation.

AutoMathic includes a library of scripted calculation files that use all of the Command-mode features to perform many useful, task-oriented calculations.

You can also create your own custom scripts on your computer and import them into AutoMathic using iTunes File Sharing:

  1. Use any text editor on your computer to create a plain text file containing any Command-mode commands.
  2. Give it a filename with a ".eqn" file extension.
  3. Sync your device using iTunes and use its File Sharing mechanism to add the script file to AutoMathic's documents.
View File

View the contents of any user-accessible file, such as saved transcripts, saved algebra, and scripted calculation files.

Manage Files

Permanently delete any user-created file.  If you select a file from the list, you will be asked for confirmation before the file is actually deleted.

Deleted files can not be recovered, so use this option carefully!  Application files are not included in the list, so the program's built-in functionality cannot be affected by managing files.
